Home Decor Accessories can be a defining and essential element in the success of a home decorating project.  When decorating a
room you must consider the following:

1)        What is your style?
2)        What is your objective or purpose for the room?
3)        How do you incorporate you into your room?
4)        How to anchor your decorating?
5)        How to choose color for your project?
6)        Now What! How to add the finishing touch to your project?

Before you begin, remember that decorating is an individual choice and your goal is to define you and your family’s life style. Make sure
when you decorate your room(s) that is attractive, easy to use, and functions well with the existing architecture. The goal of decorating is
to provide a certain “feel” for the room; it encompasses
wall decor, choosing furniture and accessories, such as wall art, decorative
boxes and bowls, bookends, wall mirrors, antique wall clocks, grandfather clocks, and others home decor that is stylish and unique.

What is Your Style?

You must decide on the style or styles you want to incorporate in your project. You can mix styles if you make one style the focal point,
while accentuating with the other style.  Start with research; you want to get an idea of how this is done. Magazines and home decorating
guides are a good place to start. And remember, decorating is about expressing who you are and living with what you love.

What is the objective or purpose for the room?

Here you want to determine a purpose for your room, in other words  create a theme. What is a theme? A theme is a consistent idea
used throughout a room to create a feeling of completeness. These themes often follow period styles. Examples of this are Louis XV,
Victorian or Art Deco. The evolution of interior decoration themes has now grown to include themes not necessarily consistent with a
specific period style allowing the mixing of pieces from different periods. Each element should contribute to form or function or both and
maintain a consistent standard of quality and combine to create the desired design.

How do you incorporate you into a room?

Its essential to consider for what purpose the room is to be used. It should not be just a living room or breakfast  room. The individual
taste and habits of the people who live in the home must be taken into consideration. Make a list and decide on what you want:
a)        Comfort and Style
b)        Warm and Inviting
c)        Functional and Usefulness
Remember most people find it easier to arrange a room like everyone else, however your goal is to analyze and express your own needs
and desires.

How to Anchor your decorating?

When anchoring you want to start with want you have. If you already have antique pieces such as sofa, table, chest or chair you want to
start with one or two pieces of furniture to use as the anchoring or focal point of your home decorating project. You can also start with
home decor accessories such as collectibles; porcelain plates, wall art, or vintage art. You want to make sure you do as much research
here to put it all together.

How to choose color for your project?

When choosing colors for your project make sure you consider your personality and style.  Choose color with rich hues of your favorite
colors and balance them with shades of pastel or whites. Research color combinations or visit your neighborhood home center or paint
store to understand grouping colors.
